London has long been a haven for LGBT communities as well as a place where the more modern struggle to overcome prejudice gained traction. A special police patrol was established to 'clean up' the park, which was more or less done by the mid s. But the gay community, and especially the growing number of 'molly houses', refused to be quashed. Although 'getting married' was a euphemism for sex in Georgian London, it also meant a gay marriage ceremony not in any legal terms, of course. A ditty was sung to mark to occasion:.

The event, which was formally run by Pride London , is sometimes referred to as London Pride. This event brings together thousands of people of all genders, ethnicities, sexualities, and also many people of different races. It is one of the longest running in the country and attracts an estimated 1. The festival's events and location within London vary every year however the Pride parade is the only annual event to close London's iconic Oxford Street. The Gay Pride Parade through the streets of London attracted 1 million people, making it the 7th largest gay event in the world and the largest Gay Pride Parade and Gay event ever held in the UK,  and the Pride attracted over 1. Pride has been organised by several organisations since the first official UK Gay Pride Rally which was held in London on 1 July chosen as the nearest Saturday to the anniversary of the Stonewall riots of with approximately 2, participants. In , the usual Pride march and rally was not held in London, decamping to Huddersfield instead as an act of solidarity with the Yorkshire gay community who claimed that West Yorkshire Police were harassing them by repeatedly raiding the Gemini Club, a leading nightclub in the North of England at the time.

Hundreds of volunteers have stripped and posed naked in a north London park -- all in the name of art. Wearing nothing but a white face mask, some volunteers gathered at Alexandra Palace to take part in the Everyone Together art installation organized by Spencer Tunick. Banksy has bought a working refugee rescue boat and sprayed it bright pink. Tunick, who is known for bringing hundreds -- and sometimes thousands -- of people together to pose for striking mass nude photographs, positioned volunteers at least one meter apart according to social distancing guidelines.
And some more than others as they take a trip down to their local dogging hotspot for some intimate fun with a bunch of strangers. Doggers engage in or watch sexual activity in a public place and although the 'hobby' sounds crass, it's probably happening closer to home than you might think. And it seems that there are no shortage of people prepared to indulge in a spot of dogging in South London as it appears to be the friskiest location in London to grab a bit of the alfresco action.
